State Police will be out in force in DeSoto Parish Wednesday night. Troopers will be conducting a DWI/Seatbelt checkpoint tomorrow night from 10pm until 3am Thursday morning. Troopers will be working to to find and remove impaired drivers from the road before they can cause injury or death to themselves or others.

Troopers will also be checking cars for seat belt use to help reduce the number of fatal crashes. Each year, on Louisiana’s highways, several people are killed or seriously injured in automobile crashes that involve impaired drivers and unrestrained motorists.

In 2016, 52% of the fatal crashes in Troop G involved impaired drivers and nearly 60% involved motorists that were improperly restrained or not restrained at all. Motorists are asked to designate a sober driver and buckle up.

If you are out an about, you can dial *LSP (*577) from your cell phone to report impaired drivers.
