Dr. Martha Whyte with the Office of Public Health says there is some promising news about the Coronavirus, but we still have a long way to go.

She also encourages residents to heed the Governor's message to stay at home until further notice. Dr. Whyte says we are ok in NW Louisiana for hospital beds. But if we don't get the numbers under control, we would have to look at an alternate location for hospital care if the existing system gets overwhelmed.

Dr. Whyte says we have also made big improvements on getting test results back quickly. Her primary concern is people following the guidelines. She says we are now seeing families getting this virus together. So she encourages you to keep 6 feet away from even family members. You should also be wiping down surfaces, door handles and light switches to try to avoid spreading the virus in the entire family.
