After a few minor delays, the Aquarium at the old Barnwell Center finally has an opening date. The Planet Aqua Group has announced that the brand new aquarium in downtown Shreveport will officially open November 1st.

Spokesman Jake Wood says tickets for the opening are now available for purchase online. The tickets, however, are for a limited viewing experience where purchasers have to pick a day and time slot to visit the aquarium.

According to the Aquarium's website, the facility will feature "more than 3,000 animals representing more than 270 different species including sharks, rays, octopus, crabs, jellyfish and much, much more."

If you would like to check out the aquarium, here is the ticket break down:

  • Adults: $12
  • Children ages 3-12: $8
  • Seniors 55+: $8
  • Children under age 3: free with paid adult

Planet Aqua has also taken over management duties at Sci-Port downtown. They are currently in the process of remodeling the educational center and installing new exhibits. The group hopes to have Sci-Port reopened to the public sometime in December.
