Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal kicks off his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination in a speech intended to separate himself from his better-known rivals.

The 44-year-old, two-term governor is telling a rally in the New Orleans suburbs that the party has ``a bunch of great talkers'' running for president but ``it's time for a doer.''

Jindal says he's running for president to ``do something,'' not ``be somebody.''

He plans to continue courting evangelical voters, while also relying on his reputation as a policy wonk with experience running government. But other candidates can claim the same territory.

Video clips on his website showed Jindal and his wife, Supriya, talking to their three children about the campaign to come.
