DeSoto Parish Sheriff Jason Richardson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the deputies writing more than a dozen citations Sunday to groups deemed to be in violation of Governor John Bel Edwards Coronavirus declarations.

Richardson tells KEEL listeners that DeSoto deputies wrote the tickets to 15 people in a group gathered in South Mansfield.

Richardson said that the group, in vehicles and on horseback, totaled around 30. The Sheriff added that a number dispersed as deputies arrived, but those detained were given a misdemeanor summons for violating the Governor's "stay-at-home" order limiting gatherings to no more than 10 people.

Those cited face a maximum penalty of a $500 fine and / or jail time of up to six months.
