Popular Breakfast Diner Closing More Locations- Is Louisiana Included?
Last October, Denny’s announced their plan to close 150 low-performing restaurants across the country to try to turn around a downward trend in overall sales. Denny’s planned to close some in 2024, and the rest in 2025. But now the picture looks even more grim.
According to a recent CNN report, Denny’s is now planning to close dozens more than originally planned. In 2021, Denny’s tried offering free Grand Slam breakfasts in over 1500 of their restaurants across North America. So, this isn’t really unexpected news.
Denny’s is make the move to try and bolster the company’s position. They have already closed 88 locations last year. But now, instead of 150 total, they now plan to close between 70 and 90 locations in 2025, bringing the total now closer to 188 locations across the country.

Why is Denny's Closing So Many Locations?
The company didn’t immediately reveal where the upcoming closures would take place, but there are several reasons for selecting specific locations. In addition to sagging sales at unprofitable locations, Denny’s said some of the stores are in old buildings, making them too expensive to remodel, and some have been open for more than 30 years, and some locations have expiring leases that the company won’t renew.
Denny’s has two locations in Shreveport Bossier, and one in Greenwood off of I-20. Denny’s is mostly known for their breakfasts, like the famous Grand Slam Breakfast, but they also feature a variety of diner food options like burgers, chicken, salads, and sandwiches, as well as their $2/4/6 & 8 Value Menu.
