Of all the National Football coaching jobs are available during this off-season, without a doubt the one that's the most talked about - and the most coveted - is taking over the sideline duties for the New Orleans Saints.

No question that Sean Payton, who recently resigned after 16 years in charge, leaves some big shoes to fill. The man described as "an offensive mastermind" by Sports Illustrated departs with more than 150 wins and a Super Bowl championship on his resume.

So, who's in line to replace the future Hall of Famer? Well, how about another fellow with NFL coaching experience plus two two Super Bowl rings of his own. And he's a former Shreveport guy, to boot.

It's former Philadelphia Eagles boss Doug Pederson.

Everybody in the NFL knows that Pederson is clamoring for another head coaching gig.  So, let's review his qualifications. He's regarded across the league as a master strategist and quarterback Svengali. In fact, before becoming head coach of the Eagles, he was an offensive coordinator and QB coach for Philadelphia and Kansas City.

And he has connections to, not only Louisiana, but Shreveport, too. Yep, Pederson was quarterback for University of Louisiana - Monroe in the early 90s. Then to further cement his ties to the area, he was head man at Shreveport's Calvary Baptist Academy for four seasons.

And of course, there's the magic season in 2017, when he led the Eagles to a victory in Super Bowl LII, knocking off Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the heavily favored Patriots.

But could he handle the rabid and oft times irrational fans of Who Dat Nation? Are you kidding? Anyone versed in the game will tell you that the most out of control fans anywhere are, ironically, in the City of Brotherly Love. After five years in Philly, Pederson is more that equipped to maneuver the minefield of Saints boosters and backers.

According to a number of sources, Pederson interviewed with the Saints about the head coaching job this past weekend. Honestly, the fit seems almost too good to true. There probably isn't another coach, available or otherwise, who is as offensive minded and quarterback savvy as Pederson, an ex-NFL signal caller himself.

Act fast, New Orleans! There are currently six coaching spots open and no doubt Pederson will apply for others. Don't let this guy get away. He wants another Super Bowl ring as much as you do.
