A Shreveport city worker has died from the Coronavirus. Mayor Adrian Perkins says an employee of the Public Works Department has died.

The virus is also having an impact on other public agencies. Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says 10 of his deputies have tested positive for COVID-19 and 25 other deputies are isolated at home. The Mayor also says 5 Shreveport Police officers have tested positive for the virus along with 1 firefighters. 16 other firefighters were exposed and are now in home quarantine.

The Mayor signed an emergency order for Shreveport this week. He posted this message:

I declared a State of Emergency for the City of Shreveport. This declaration includes the following order:

Restaurants, as defined in the Unified Development Code, shall limit their operations to curb-side or drive-thru pickup, with patrons remaining in their vehicles at all times. This order reduces the amount of contact between citizens, helping slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives.
Governor John Bel Edwards' most recent order also puts the same restrictions on restaurants across the state.
