UPDATE: Coronavirus Cases in Louisiana
Medical personnel are working around the clock to deal with this health crisis. More people are being tested and as a result, there are more positive tests of cases of Coronavirus.
As of Saturday evening there are now 763 positive cases, up from 585 Saturday morning. There have been 20 deaths in Louisiana which is up from 16 reported deaths this morning.
1,294 have been tested by the state lab and 2008 people have been tested by private labs.
Cases by Parish:
There are 418 cases in Orleans and 166 in Jefferson. Caddo has 15. Bossier now has 5 cases with 2 in DeSoto, 1 in Webster Parish, 1 in Bienville and 1 in Claiborne Parish.
For confirmed infections, reported illnesses have ranged from infected people with little to no symptoms (similar to the common cold) to people being severely ill and dying. Symptoms can include:
- Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
CDC believes at this time that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 after exposure.
There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for COVID-19 infection. People infected with COVID-19 should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. Call your doctor: If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.
