It's going to be very cold tonight. The National Weather Service says we will likely see below-freezing temperatures across north Louisiana Wednesday night. This will bring a sharp chill to the Shreveport-Bossier area and surrounding parishes.

Freeze Expected Tonight Across Shreveport-Bossier

National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Knapp says temperatures are likely to dip below 32 degrees across much of north Louisiana. This will include Shreveport and Bossier City. The freezing temps could also impact Natchitoches and towns in between these two metros.

Residents in the Ark-La-Tex should prepare for overnight lows near or below freezing, especially during the late-night and early-morning hours.

Wind Chill Drops “Feels Like” Temperatures

While it will be cold with temps near freezing, the winds will make it feel even colder. Knapp says the wind chill temps could dip into the mid-20s for much of north Louisiana, including the Shreveport-Bossier metro.

This cold front is not bringing any winter precipitation, but the winds and the dry conditions could increase the fire danger across the region.

Burn Bans Remain in Effect in Area Parishes

Several parishes across north Louisiana are still under outdoor burn bans. Those include Caddo, Bossier, Vernon, Winn, Jackson, and Union parishes.

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and to follow parish-level restrictions, as fires can spread quickly in dry, windy weather.

What Shreveport-Bossier Residents Can Expect Next

Knapp says we should see temps warm up a bit on Friday, but more cold is on the way for the weekend with temps on Saturday and Sunday only climbing into the upper 40s.

You are urged to protect pets, plants, and pipes as our temps dip to the freezing range.
