City Leaders Pull Proposed Garbage Fee
After a complete and utter rejection by citizens in Shreveport, Mayor Ollie Tyler and the City Council have decided to pull the proposed $12 a month sanitation fee. The issue was scheduled to be voted on Tuesday November 22nd.
Many citizens were upset by the proposed fee, claiming it was a back door effort to raise taxes without a vote. Other citizens believe the price of $12 was just too much. According to city officials, the money would have made the Sanitation Department self funded and would have freed up money for city employees to get raises.
