ORIGINAL STORY:

Bossier City Police responded to a bank robbery this afternoon but it took officers just a few minutes to catch the suspect as he made his getaway.  Just before 3 p.m. police received a call that the Chase Bank in the 1900 block of Airline Drive at Old Minden Road had been robbed.  The suspect, described as a white male, reportedly walked in, approached a teller with a note demanding money and indicating that he had a gun. The suspect then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A passerby in a vehicle, unaware that the robbery had just taken place, saw a man running from the bank with a satchel and get into a black Nissan Tundra pickup truck.  Sensing that something wasn’t quite right with what he was seeing, he called police who determined the man was the possible suspect in the robbery that had just occurred.

The suspect vehicle left the bank parking lot and traveled west on Old Minden Road to I-20 where it proceeded eastbound.  Based on information and direction of travel provide by the passerby, police caught up with the suspect vehicle on I-20 at Industrial Drive and conducted a traffic stop.  The suspect pulled over after two semi-trucks heading eastbound slowed in front of the suspect vehicle upon seeing that police were trying to stop it.

The suspect surrendered to police without incident and is being questioned at police headquarters. Officers also impounded his vehicle.   At this time charges have not been filed.
