Caddo Sheriff’s Office Cites Four for Underage Alcohol Sales
Four people were cited for the illegal sale of alcohol to underage persons during an operation conducted by the Caddo Sheriff's Youth Services Division, said Sheriff Steve Prator. Seventeen businesses did not sell.
The list below contains the names of employees who were issued a summons for selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21, which is a violation of the law. The list also includes the locations where these violations took place. This operation was conducted on December 7 and December 8.
- Treasure Robinson, Relay Station, 10281 Hwy. 1 South;
- Annah Duffy, Speedy's Drive Throux, 111731 Mansfield Road, Keithville;
- Patricia Finklea, The Derrick, 6780 Colquitt Road, Keithville; and
- Cynthia Bates, Spring Market, 5907 Old Mooringsport.
The Louisiana Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control (ATC) offers the following recommendations to ensure that all alcohol is served responsibly..
DRIVER'S LICENSES
1. Instruct staff on the difference between vertical & horizontal driver’s licenses.
2. Vertical driver’s licenses are only issued to persons under the age of 21. 3. Display the enclosed VERTICAL DRIVER’S LICENSE HANDOUT at each point of sale as a helpful resource.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
1.Remind staff not to rely solely on these identifiers.
2. When in doubt always request identification from the purchaser.
3. Equip staff and volunteers with the appropriate tools such as proper lighting to check identification, electronic ID scanners, and a procedure for denying a sale to an underage person.
