Caddo Sheriff Offering Courses to Help Women Shoot and Defend Themselves
It's a sad state of affairs, but realistically considering the world we live in today, women truly need a good dose of education in personal protection.
Along with learning basic vehicle maintenance and a few "do it yourself" home repair skills, women need some education in shooting skills and overall protection of themselves, and to aid in that effort, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department is offering a couple of courses in the coming weeks.
Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator is offering a basic firearms and personal safety class for women from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on March 12 and again on April 2 at the Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy.
What Will Women Be Taught?
Sheriff’s deputies will teach safe handling and firing of handguns on the Sheriff's Academy firing range.
Ladies will also learn basic self-defense, situational awareness, and personal safety.
How Much Does It Cost?
The course is free, but pre-registration is required by calling Community Programs at 681-0875. Participants are asked to bring their own handgun and ammunition.
The Caddo Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy is located at 15639 Hwy. 1 South.
