Shreveport firefighters have been battling a fire at two houses a bit south of the downtown district. More than 20 units responded to fight the blaze near the intersection of Market Street and Wall Street which is just north of Stoner.

The large plume of smoke could be seen for miles. Motorists are urged to avoid Marshall and Market Street while crews continue working to put out hot spots.

Fire investigators will be trying to determine the cause of the blaze. No reports of anyone injured at this point.
