When it comes to career accomplishments, longevity is always an impressive stat. Every once in a while, you'll hear of an auto worker or nurse or something that stays working for the same place for 40+ years. But that kind of longevity and loyalty is rare. In the media business, it's unheard of. Radio DJs and news personalities get fired, they move around the country...a lot of things happen that cause people in this industry to work for different companies or stations or whatever. It's just apart of life.

That's why its so amazing that Erin McCarty has made it 37 years with KEEL. From location changes to changes in ownership, the one consistent for nearly 4 decades is Erin.

From covering major, life changing news events to funny moments like hurting her back getting a pedicure (true story) to shaving her head to raise money for kids who may not have a Christmas, Erin has been a major part of our lives - keeping us entertained, informed and doing great things for the community.

She's been on the frontlines of every news story in Shreveport. She's mentored and helped a bunch of people as they came into this industry. She's won awards and been yelled at by high ranking public officials. When it comes to the news business, there's not much Erin hasn't done. And most of it she's done right here at KEEL.

You may never know what she's going to say or do. And yes, occasionally, she can be a LOT to handle - just ask Robert J. Wright about that. But through everything, we're proud to say Erin's apart of our family.

So, congratulations Erin on this massive and almost unheard of accomplishment. And we can't wait to make more memories in the coming years. To celebrate Erin, below are some of our favorite Erin McCarty moments:

LOOK: The most famous actress born the same year as you

Many of the actresses in this story not only made a name for themselves through their collection of iconic performances, but also through the selfless, philanthropic nature with which many of them approached their stardom. In an age of flipping the script on societal norms, many of these actresses are using their voices and platforms to be advocates for those who are otherwise unheard.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
