Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent Scott Smith talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about recent threats against the district made by a number of nationally known organizations, most notably The Freedom From Religion Foundation.

That Foundation and others including the American Humanist Association, American Atheists and Secular Students Alliance are claiming that Smith and the school district are violating students rights and in violation of the Constitution in the way they handled the possible National Anthem protests of student-athletes and circumstances surrounding public prayer at some school events.

At the center of the controversy is a Scott email to middle and high school principals across the Parish saying that everyone should stand for the National Anthem and "I was going to leave it up to them as far as the consequences were concerned."
