The Painter's Tape Challenge

This almost makes me laugh every time I see it.  There’s a new trend sweeping the streets of Louisiana, and honestly, across the nation. And you didn’t even know you were part of it. No, it’s not a TikTok challenge or a new diet fad. It’s something more elusive, more mysterious, more… adhesive. I’m talking about the lone piece of blue painter’s tape that’s clinging for dear life to the back windshield wiper of your neighbor’s Toyota SUV.

The Last Stand/Stick

You’ve seen it. Faded. Flapping. Hanging on by one last stubborn corner like it still believes it has a job to do. But its shift ended three weeks ago, and now it’s just along for the ride, headed nowhere fast.

Here’s how it happens. You pull into one of those $10 car washes—sudsy, speedy, suspiciously enthusiastic—and someone in a neon vest slaps blue tape across your back wiper like they’re tagging you in for a wrestling match. That tape’s whole job is to keep your wiper from going rogue during the wash. Fine. Helpful, even.

Clean Up Your Mess

But here’s the thing: no one ever takes it off. Not the guy at the end of the tunnel. Not you, because you forgot it was there. And definitely not the blue tape itself. It just lingers, aging in public, until it breaks free and becomes roadside confetti.

Look, if your business model includes taping my car, then your business model needs to include de-taping it too. Otherwise, congratulations—you’ve launched the most low-effort litter campaign in town.

So the next time you see a car with that sad blue flag waving in the wind, give 'em a little nod. They’re not just driving—they’re surviving. Welcome to Blue Tape Nation.

Let’s maybe clean that up, huh?
