Another Big Weekend of Activities for Downtown Shreveport
It's another big Rendezvous on the Red weekend! Here are some of the activities going on, starting today! Visit the Rendezvous website for a more complete list.
THURSDAY
The Unwind Downtown Pub and Culture Crawl. Things kick off at 5 p.m. at artspace, 710 Texas. You can either choose the TNT Trolley "Movies and Cinematic History" Tour or the pub crawl, which takes you to five different fun locations. Admission to either is free!
Hot Jazz on the Red at the Barnwell Center. Tonight, you can enjoy music by Robin and the Bluebirds, with Dirty Redd. The event starts at 6 o'clock.
FRIDAY
The last Friday lunch on the courthouse lawn. It starts at 11:45, with entertainment by Dragstrip Phantoms. Food vendors and artists will be on site and restaurants all over downtown will offer pre-made box lunches.
Sci-Port's Rendezvous on the Red Star Party on the Windham Family Rooftop Terrace. The show, along with live "Jazz Under the Stars" runs from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and is free. But you'll need to make a reservation by calling Sci-Port.
Bon Temps Burlesque presents "Paint the Town Red." it's a musical, dance and theater extravaganza, featuring hip hop, street jazz, contemporary and burlesque dance -- along with vocalists, sketch comedy and more. This is intended for mature audiences. It runs Friday through Sunday at 516 Texas Street. Tickets are $20 and the show begins at 7 each night.
"Oh, Really...?" The new art show by the same name opens Friday night at artspace, and features the works of local female artists. The opening reception is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes live music and complimentary hors d'oeuvres.
"Live at Five" in the Red River District. Live music begins at 5 p.m. under the Texas Street Bridge. Food and beverages are available, and there's no cover charge.
SATURDAY
The FLW Outdoors Expo continues at the Shreveport Convention Center. It runs through Sunday. Activities are free and open to the public.
"Fit for Life" is going on at several venues downtown. Archery and Fencing competitions, bodybuilding and more throughout the day.
SUNDAY
The Louisiana Hayride returns at the Scottish Rite Temple. It includes music, singing and comedy acts. Admission is a 25-dollar donation for those 10 and over. Things start at 2 that afternoon.
