After 37 years, we now know who killed DeAnna Montgomery. Her husband James Montgomery reached a plea agreement with prosecutors on Tuesday, admitting he hired a hitman to kill his wife. According to Montgomery's statement, he had his wife killed so he could collect her life insurance.

Montgomery entered a guilty plea to the Caddo District Court on the reduced charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to 5 years. With credit for time served, Montgomery could be out in 18 months to 2 years.

Without the plea deal, Montgomery could have potentially been sentenced to life in prison for 2nd degree murder.
