More changes could be on the way for some Caddo Parish Schools. The Superintendent has announced a plan to close more local schools.

Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree is recommending that three schools shut down after the current school year. "the Board gave me direction on things that we needed to start working on." said Dr. Goree.

He added: "one of the challenges we face is that there will be some affected schools. Staff is recommending closing  Atkins Elementary, Queensborough Elementary and Lakeshore Middle School. The Lakeshore students would move to the new Fairpark Middle School."

The three schools are on the list of troubled schools in our parish. This proposal does require the approval of the Caddo Parish School Board. That vote is expected to happen at the next meeting on March 21st.

The superintendent plans to schedule meetings with parents and staff at the 3 schools in coming weeks.
