It seems no matter where you go around Shreveport Bossier, there's a "Dollar" store on just about every corner.  Dollar General, Family Dollar, or Dollar Tree are popular destinations for those looking to save a buck or two.  But are you really saving money by shopping there?  The answer might surprise you.

According to a recent article in Reader's Digest, trying to save a few dollars up-front, might actually be costing you more money in the long run.

 

One thing that I've learned over the years, and have finally conviced my wife of, is that sometimes it's better to spend a little more up-front on better quality, than to have to replace a cheaper product repeatedly.

There's nothing that is more frustrating than when a piece of equipment doesn't start.  When you get ready to tackle the yard chores on Saturday morning, and that store-brand lawn-mower floods out, or the cheap string-trimmer won't crank, it can ruin your morning.

But if you went ahead and invested in a quality piece of equipment, it will not only save you a lot of frustration, it will probably also save you money by lasting twice as long, or longer, than the cheaper products.

 

And the same can hold true for everyday items you might need around the house.  Trying to save money by buying the cheapest products simply by price could end up not only being frustrating and costing you more money, it might even put your safety at risk.
