Shreveport Police are reminding the public that assault on Police Officers or jail employees will not be tolerated.

Officers were called to a domestic disturbance on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. When SPD got to the scene, they found that no physical altercation ever happened. However, Kerstin Luoma was found to be extremely intoxicated.

As SPD Officers attempted to take Luoma into custody, she allegedly began fighting Officers. SPD eventually got her under control and she was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and resisting an officer with force or violence.

Once Luoma was taken to the Shreveport City Jail, she allegedly committed a battery on a jailer. As a result, she now faces an additional felony charge of battery of a correctional facility employee.

From SPD:

"What began as a simple disturbance call has now resulted in serious charges.

When officers are called to a scene, they have a legal obligation to take action. We ask the public to do the right thing: keep your hands off police officers and jail employees."
