Two Men Arrested in Foiled West Shreveport Burglary
Two men are behind bars after an early-morning burglary in west Shreveport.
It happened just after 2 a.m. in the 200 block of W. 84th Street. A concerned citizen reported seeing a group of men trying to burglarize an 18-wheeler parked on a private lot there.
When officers arrived, the two men took off on foot, but one of them was quickly caught. Police say 49-year-old Gerald Davenport was taken into custody without incident. However, it took a police K-9 to help catch the other man, 46-year-old Eric Blackstone. He was caught in a nearby wooded area, then treated at the scene for injuries he suffered during his attempt to elude police.
Property stolen during the burglary was general merchandise that belonged to a local retailer housed on the parking lot. It was recovered and returned to the owner.
Davenport and Blackstone were booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a burglary charge each.
