The New Miss Louisiana is From Shreveport

A former Shreveport woman is the 2012 Miss Louisiana. Lauren Vizza, 22, was crowned the new Miss Louisiana Saturday night at the Monroe Civic Center.

Vizza is a graduate of Caddo Magnet School and a senior at Louisiana Tech University. She represented her school in this year's Miss Louisiana pageant as Miss Louisiana Tech.

Vizza says she will take the next year off from school, where she is majoring in Political Science. She will travel the state and prepare for the Miss America pageant in January.

Miss Louisiana 2011 Hope Anderson passed the crown to Lauren. Hope says she's using her $60,000 in scholarship money to finish her master's at Johns Hopkins.
