Thirty-six women from all across Louisiana are in Monroe now, getting ready to claim the crown and title of Miss Louisiana.

All the contestants will be at the University of Louisiana at Monroe while competing later this week.  The competition will be held at the Monroe Civic Center's W.L. "Jack" Howard Theatre.

The reigning Miss Louisiana is Shreveporter Lauren Vizza, who has said the experience of having the title has been incredible.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Miss Louisiana pageant being held in Monroe.  The competition starts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.  The winner will be crowned on Saturday.
