UPDATE, June 27, 2016: Carrie Rivers is now behind bars. Bossier sheriff's detectives say she turned herself in this morning. She's been booked into Bossier Max for false swearing - violating public health, unauthorized use of a moveable, and improper telecommunications and harassment.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Bossier Sheriff's detectives are looking for a Shreveport woman who falsely claimed a man sexually abused his 5-month-old daughter.

According to deputies, 32-year-old Carrie Rivers provided childcare for the man on a daily basis for a short time this spring. When her services were no longer needed in late May, she was let go. She was apparently upset over payment, so she sent a threatening text to the girl's mother, saying the baby's father had molested the child. She also told the mother she had a photo to prove it.

The claim led to unnecessary, invasive medical tests on the baby, wasted man hours for law enforcement, and the temporary removal of the father from the home. No evidence of sexual abuse was found.

Rivers was contacted by sheriff's deputies and asked to provide the photo, but she said she couldn't find it. Rivers became uncooperative when she was asked to come in for an interview, and said she wouldn't help anymore until she was paid more money for babysitting.

Rivers eventually confessed that there was no child abuse, and that she made up the whole story just to anger the couple.

"We take every allegation of child abuse or sexual assault very seriously," said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington. "Our deputies and detectives will diligently investigate each and every case and make the appropriate charges. But when someone like Rivers makes false accusations, causing undue stress on another family, causing this young child to undergo invasive testing, triggering numerous hours of investigations and medical exams that weren't warranted, our detectives will work just as hard to bring false accusers to justice."

Detectives have a warrant charging Rivers with making a false accusation of sexual misconduct. She's also wanted on two other charges -- unauthorized use of a moveable for taking the phone belonging to the infant's mother without her permission, and improper telecommunications for harassing the mother when she sent her threatening messages.

Rivers' last known address is in the 3400 block of Catherine Street in Shreveport. If you know where she is now, you're asked to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at 318-424-4100.
