BOSSIER PARISH, LA-  New Phone Scam Circulating in Bossier Parish

Sometimes it seems as though if people would just apply their skills at an actual job, as opposed to scheming to develop another new scam every week... there's no telling how much more productive they would be.

Detectives with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office are warning Bossier residents about another round of phone scams circulating in the parish.Detectives say the caller in this scam identifies himself as a deputy or Sergeant with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.

When answered, the caller tells the recipient that they missed jury duty and they owe money to the courts. Detectives say one way for residents not to fall victim to this scam is to know that it is not BSO policy to contact someone by phone demanding payment for a fine or soliciting money.

Please remember, most reputable organizations will not ask for personal information in an unsolicited phone call.  Never give out any information over the phone if you do not know who the caller is, or if you didn't initiate the phone call.

If you feel you have fallen victim to this scam, please call the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-3418 or (318) 965-2203.
