The city's property standards code are being overhauled. The goal is to put teeth in the local laws to hold owners responsible for the condition of properties. The Property Standard Task Force's mission: set up minimum living conditions. These new rules won't affect just rental property, but any building intended for people to live in. The task force is expected to impliment fines for landlords who don't bring properties up to standard. The task force set their next meeting for January 24th, where they'll review the changes they made Thursday. Before the city council can vote on the final version, a public hearing will be scheduled.
