City of Shreveport teams representing Property Standards, the Department of Community Development and the Police Department will lead a sweep through Council District G on Wednesday, October 8, as the effort to clean up the City continues.
This sweep will cover areas between Lakeshore Drive and I-20 and Jewella Avenue to Hearne Avenue, all of which lies within Councilman Sam Jenkins’ district.

Other agencies participating in the sweep include the Metropolitan Planning Commission and Shreveport Green, which is helping to educate residents about littering. Community Development representatives will be available so that residents interested in having their homes painted can sign up for next year’s edition of ``Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport.’’

One of the main goals this year is to identify violations such as illegal businesses, livestock and water and sewerage leaks.

The sweep starts at 8 a.m. at Bilberry Park, 1902 Alabama Ave. Dumpsters will be onsite for citizens who want to discard debris, trash and old tires.

Last month’s sweep resulted in 10 citations for zoning violations; 114 citations for property standards violations and 52 police citations for various offenses. Community Development also handled 25 applications for Paint Your Heart Out.
