A Shreveport man is in jail for a stabbing that left a woman hospitalized.

Detectives say at around 8:30 last night, 61-year-old Marsha Watkins and 45-year-old Melvin Collins got into an argument that turned physical. That's when he reportedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed Watkins several times in the upper body. Police found her inside a home in the 700 block of Melrose Street.

Watkins was taken to University Health with non-life-threatening wounds. Collins was charged with one count of aggravated second-degree battery. He's been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
