After 27 years, Fire Chief Brian Crawford's tenure with the Shreveport Fire Department has drawn to a close. But a new chapter of service to the citizens of Shreveport is just beginning, as he becomes the city's Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.Crawford says he and Mayor Glover first discussed the possibility of his doing other things for the city late last year. And, when the Assistant CAO's job became open early this year, they had that discussion again. He says he's looking forward to making the transition from one job to the other and actually started the transition a few months ago. Crawford says the decision to move into the Assistant CAO's job was not one that was made without a lot of serious consideration and consultation with his family. Crawford says the move is, in many ways, a bold one because he'll now be serving at the will of the administration without the "safety net" he had as a member of the fire department.
