The Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding its biggest, and final, Health Fair of the year tomorrow.  Michelle Davison with the local chapter says participants can have a blood chemistry profile done for $40, and men only can have that done, along with a prostate cancer blood screen, for $50. Test results are typically mailed out about a week after the fair. If you want one of those done, you'll need to bring a 44-cent stamp with you, or money to buy one, and you're encouraged to fast for 12 hours prior to the test.  That ensures more accurate results.

Flu and pneumonia shots are also available.  Those cost $25 and $30, respectively, unless you're insured through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, which makes your shots free.  Davison says this is the perfect time to get your flu shot, since the season here runs from around November to March, and it takes about two weeks after you get your vaccination for it to fully take effect.

The Health Fair runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at Broadmoor Baptist Church on Youree Drive in Shreveport.  If you need more information, visit the Red Cross website:  www.LouisianaRedCross.org.
