Wreck Kills Truck Driver

Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating a wreck that's claimed the life of one person north of Hosston. Cpl. Mike Vaitkus says a trailerless truck was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 71 this morning when its driver moved into the northbound lane on a hill to pass another vehicle.  In doing so, the driver moved into the path of a northbound SUV. The truck ran off the road and rolled several times, finally coming to rest upside down. Vaitkus says the driver was pinned inside the cab. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies have identified her as 41-year-old Gertha Jackson of Shreveport -- a driver for Federal Express.
