The nominees for the Toy Hall of Fame have been announced. I'm ok with all but one of them. Here's the list for 2019:

Care Bears
Coloring books
The Fisher-Price corn popper
Jenga
Magic the Gathering card game
He-Man Masters of the Universe action figures
Matchbox Cars
My Little Pony
Nerf Blaster
Risk
The smartphone
The top

How is the top not already in the Hall of Fame. It's hundreds of years old. The Fisher Price corn popper has been in every home since the 1960's. And coloring books are still trying to get into the Hall? How is that possible?

The one that bothers me about this list is the smartphone. They claim it's a toy because so many people play games on their phones. I get that people play games on the phone, but shouldn't it be the game that gets recognized and not the device?

We had quite the conversation about these toys this morning.

The three winners will be announced on November 7.
