Who Gets the Covid Vaccine Next?
More Covid vaccines are on the way to our state. The Moderna vaccine is arriving at more than 100 pharmacies across the state. Each of the pharmacies will be getting 100 doses.
Folks over the age of 70 can now get the shot, but you have to have an appointment. Thousands of people have already called the pharmacies to get on the list. KEEL News has learned more than 500 people have asked to get appointments at the 8 locations in Shreveport and Bossier.
Here's the list of local pharmacies getting the vaccines:
Brookshire's on Line Avenue
Brookshire's on Mansfield Road
Brookshire's on Barksdale Blvd
Albertsons on Southfield Rd in Shreveport
Super 1 Foods on Waggoner
Super 1 Foods on Airline Drive
Boudreaux's Pharmacy on Greenwood Road
Kelly Pharmacy in Plain Dealing
You do have to bring an ID showing proof of age. Healthcare workers must present a valid ID badge showing employment at an ambulatory/outpatient health clinic/center.
The full list of pharmacies with the vaccines is on the state health department website.
We talked with Dr. Martha Whyte of the Office of Public Health about the vaccine and the distribution plan.
