Whitehorn Officially Announces Bid for Caddo Sheriff

It's official... He's in.  Henry Whitehorn, who's name has been brought up for weeks as a possible candidate for sheriff of Caddo Parish has now been officially tossed into the ring.  Whitehorn announced on Tuesday that he is running for Caddo Parish Sheriff.

Whitehorn stated:

"I'm not really running against (Sheriff Steve) Prator," said Whitehorn. "I'm running for the office. because I know this is God's plan for me and I know we are in a critical time as it relates to how our citizens feel about law enforcement the whole nation is going through a transition in policing. And I believe based on my training, my experience and my qualifications that I am the best person to oversee this transition."

Whitehorn has an extensive background in law enforcement having previously served as the U. S. Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana, Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, deputy Secretary of Public Safety Services, and Police Chief for the Shreveport Police Department.  His most recent position was chief administrative office for the Mayor Perkins administration.

Currently, two other candidates have announced their intent to run. One is current Sheriff Steve Prator, and the other is Eric Hatfield.  Whitehorn was expected to officially announce his candidacy in July, but, obviously, moved up his timeline.
