Superintendent White Welcomes Back Shreveport-Bossier Teachers with Special Video

A special video message from Louisiana Superintendent of Education John White has been posted online to welcome back teachers for a brand new school year.

The top educator in the Bayou state has nothing but praise for teachers here for bringing students up to a higher level of achievement during the last ten years.

White talks about the importance of the role that teachers and other educators will play in the state's plan for continued improvement. The program is called "Louisiana Believes."

White said:

Louisiana has made significant progress during the last decade but more needs to be done to prepare students to graduate from high school with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and challenging careers.

The superintendent says greater accountability should bring greater freedom and flexibility to achieve higher standards.
