According to a new study from the Legatum Institute in London, when it comes to 'personal freedom', the United States now ranks below 20 other countries.

The research shows that citizens of countries including France, Uruguay, and Costa Rica now enjoy more personal freedom than Americans.

The study aims to measure aspects of personal and economic freedom, including entrepreneurship, opportunity, education, and social capital.

America's overall personal freedom score has declined by 17 percent since 2009, with a 22 percent drop in combined civil liberty and choice freedoms contributing to that decline.

According to the report, here are the world's top ten 'most free' nations.

1) New Zealand

2) Norway

3) Australia

4) Iceland

5) Canada

6) Sweden

7) Netherlands

8) Uruguay

9) Denmark

10) United Kingdom

The second ten included Ireland at 11, Germany 14th and France at 17. As mentioned, the USA was ranked 21st. To see the complete list of the top 25 'Free Nations on Earth': JUST CLICK HERE!
