The U.S. Justice Department has opened the window for interested organizations and agencies to apply for federal grants to improve crime control and prevention, administration of justice, and victim assistance.  The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana says those interested have a few weeks to apply.  Stephanie Finley says the grants are available for: mentoring programs for adults and juveniles; programs that will assist in the collection and analysis of crime statistical data; programs that will develop effective strategies for establishing victim assistance; and programs to assist in wrongful conviction review; among others.  You can get a whole list of grant programs available by visiting the Office of Justice Programs website at:  http://www.ojp.gov You can also call Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Gillespie at 318-676-3600 for more information.
