Things Get a Little Testy at Bossier Republican Leaders Meeting
Bossier Republicans hear about Louisiana's budget crisis. Things got a little heated near the end of the meeting.
The Bossier Parish Republican Party Executive Committee held a gathering of lawmakers to talk about the state budget crisis. Things got a little heated up during the end of the meeting, but all of the lawmakers in the room agreed. They say Louisiana leaders have some tough decisions ahead.
The meeting kicked off with former State Senator Robert Adley telling the group about the budget dilemna.
Adley also told the group about the growth of the state budget which is due to federal money coming to Louisiana.
State Representative Larry Bagley also told the group we face some tough decisions. But the retired educator says he will do everything he can to protect TOPS. He says it's tough to know what numbers we should believe.
Democrat Gene Reynolds of Minden also attended the meeting and he told the group there are not 70 votes to pass anything right now, but he does anticipate the Governor will call lawmakers into special session this month to address the budget crisis.
Former State Senator Robert Adley told the lawmakers and the crowd: "All we're asking is if you want to cut the budget, just tell everybody where you want to cut it. We think that's wrong. But don't talk about it, just do it."
