Louisiana's NBA franchise will be changing its name from the New Orleans Hornets to the New Orleans Pelicans.  The new name reflects Louisiana's state bird, after using the name the franchise has held since it was in Charlotte. The team will keep the Hornets name for the rest of this season, but fans can start buying Pelicans merchandise now.

Team owner Tom Benson said in a news release that when he bought the franchise to move to New Orleans, "it was a priority to change the name to reflect our culture, our community and our resolve. The Pelican does that.”

The new colors will be blue, gold, and red.  The blue derives from Louisiana's state flag, whereas the gold comes from the Saints, which Benson also owns.  As described by team officials, the gold serves as a bond between the organizations and the spirited life of New Orleans.  The red is a symbol of fraternity and another color found on the Louisiana state flag and the New Orleans.

So, we must ask, do you agree with the changes?
