Top Louisiana Educator Steve Monaghan Talks Guns in Classrooms, Says Teachers Could Have ‘Make My Day’ Situation
Lots of talk about guns these days. Some even suggest that teachers should be allowed to have guns in their classrooms. This prompted Steve Monaghan, President of the Louisiana Federation of Teachers, to say that's a bad idea.
But he went one step further, envisioning a scenario where a teacher having a rough day could use a gun as a disciplinary tool, or worse.
"I used to be an English teacher and you don't want me having a gun," said Monaghan. "I mean, I may get a little angry with the fact that things are going badly that day and I might decide to slam the gun down and say make my day."
