Shreveport Police Department Chief Ben Raymond talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the Wednesday chase and shooting involving a Shreveport man and officers from numerous law enforcement agencies.

Trivenskey Odom led Shreveport Police, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputies and Louisiana Highway Patrol on a high speed, hour long chase, before he was killed in a shootout with officers.

Details from KEEL news:

"One man is dead following a car chase and shootout in Shreveport. Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says the suspect ran from deputies after they tried to pull him over for driving a stolen SUV.'

"It started at about 4:30 in the afternoon in the 200 block of East 70th where the suspect allegedly shot a man in the leg and and stole a vehicle.'

"About an hour later, the Sheriff's Department got a call about a man on North Market threatening to shoot himself and others. When deputies arrived they found this man in that stolen SUV. He fled headed toward the town of Greenwood.'

"The chase lasted for about one hour and involved as many as 30 police officers. They put out spike strips at several spots but the chase continued from Greenwood back into Shreveport, into the Cedar Grove neighborhood and through Queensborough. It finally ended at Jewella and Greenwood. The suspect had a gun and apparently pointed the gun at officers. 5 officers fired shots at the suspect, killing him."
