Some Caddo Sheriff's Office staffers have been spreading the holiday cheer today. The Bailiffs Section and Court Holding delivered 10 boxes of Christmas dinners to 10 families at Providence house this morning. Each year, Sheriff Prator encourages deputies in each area of the Sheriff's Office to find a charity or organization to support. So over the next few days, deputies will be delivering gifts to families and children through the Gingerbread House, Shriners Hospital, Holy Angels, the military, LSUHSC and more. Over 150 children have already been helped through the Salvation Army.

While they were doing that, Shreveport firefighters and police officers and Bossier sheriff's deputies were busy getting toys together for Operation Santa Claus.  They say it was a difficult year, but they were able -- thanks to your donations -- to collect toys for all the boys and girls on their list, who otherwise wouldn't have had a Christmas this year.  They'll be delivering those toys tomorrow and Thursday...just in time for Christmas Eve.  They're telling us there are still several hardship cases that need help.  Call 687-GIFT if you'd like to find out what's needed.

In other holiday-related news...some local agencies are taking a couple of extra days off for Christmas. The City of Bossier City administrative offices, including offices for City Council, will be closed this Friday and next Monday for the holiday. That means residential trash routes will be shifted, as well. Routes will run as usual Friday. Monday routes will run Tuesday, Tuesday routes Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday will be back to normal.
