Shreveport's Director of Water and Sewerage William Daniel explains why so many across the city have lost water and what the department is doing to restore service.

"We have crews out right now, even in this weather, working to keep water pressure up for residents," says Daniel, referring to residents across the city without service. "(Yesterday) we started having a lot of breaks in some of our mains and even in some smaller lines. Overnight, we were able to catch up a little bit, so we're hopeful...that we're going to be able to increase the pressure for some areas of town.

"We're doing everything possible to continue providing water, but it's a very challenging weather situation."

Daniel says that DOWAS workers have been on the job all night in inclement weather and service will be restored to all areas of town perhaps sooner than expected if the degree of severity of the second storm is less than anticipated.
