Shreveport Woman Arrested for Stealing a Truck and Cash
Shreveport Police were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call at the East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop Home Depot.
When SPD got to the scene, Officers made contact with Caddo Sheriff’s Office Deputies who detained a female later identified as Elisa Maria Palma.
Deputies were initially contacted by a complainant who reported that Palma had stolen his pickup truck. The caller told Officers that, Palma allegedly took cash, his driver’s license, credit and debit cards, and his cell phone, along with his vehicle.
The caller later found Palma in the Home Depot parking lot. When Palma attempted to leave toward a nearby bank, the complainant called CPSO Deputies, who made contact with Palma inside the stolen vehicle and detained her.
During the investigation, officers found the complainant’s driver’s license and multiple credit/debit cards in Palma's possession. The complainant’s cell phone was also found inside the vehicle.
A witness at Home Depot told SPD that Palma tried to ram his vehicle, causing him to jump a curb to avoid being struck. Home Depot surveillance video captured the incident.
After being advised of her rights, Palma stated the cash found in her possession belonged to her.
Palma and the complainant live in the same house and are former dating partners. Due to conflicting claims regarding ownership of the money, the cash was taken into evidence for safekeeping.
Elisa Maria Palma was arrested and charged with:
· Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Vehicle Theft)
· Theft
· Aggravated Assault
This case remains under investigation.
