Shreveport Pre-School Graduation Fight Leads to Gun Arrest
Yesterday, just after 10am Shreveport Police got a call about a fight at a pre-school graduation on Vincent Avenue.
Police got to the graduation and asked witnesses what went on, they found out that a fight had gone on between two men. After the fight, one of the men witnesses identified as Demarcusse Brown left the graduation and went to his car and grabbed a gun in an attempt to escalate the situation.
SPD swiftly responded, and Brown was detained while he still had the gun on him. Officers also determined that the gun Brown had was stolen. Brown was arrested and charged with the following:
· Possession of a firearm on school property
· Possession of a stolen firearm
· Disturbing the peace by fighting
Officers also found out that Brown had an outstanding warrant for domestic abuse and battery during his arrest. The other man involved in the fight got a court summons for disturbing the peace by fighting.
From SPD:
"The firearm was seized by SPD and Brown was transported to the Shreveport Police City Jail. Thanks to the prompt action of responding officers, no children or parents attending the event—many of whom were children ages three to five—were harmed.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our schools and communities."
