SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police Arrest Convicted Felon with Firearm
The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a convicted felon found in possession of a firearm during a late-night disturbance call.
On August 13th, just before midnight, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a local hotel in the 6700 block of Raspberry Lane. The hotel employee who made the call requested assistance in removing several individuals from the premises.
During the investigation, officers discovered a firearm with an obliterated serial number. The weapon was found in the possession of 27-year-old Matthew Allums, who was determined to be a convicted felon. Allums was immediately taken into custody.
He has been charged with:
- One count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,
- One count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and
- One count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
The firearm was seized, and Allums was transported to the Shreveport City Jail, where he will face these charges. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for the possession of this firearm.
