Yesterday evening the Shreveport Fire Department was called out to Nena Street in the MLK Neighborhood to reports of a house fire.

When SFD arrived on scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a single-story house. Firefighters were able to get in to the house and began fighting the fire from the inside.

The fire was brought under control within an hour. It took the efforts of 11 units and 25 Firefighters to get the fire put out. The residents were able to safely evacuate the home without injury. No injuries to Firefighters were reported.

The home suffered heavy damage to the roof and attic with extensive smoke damage to the inside of the home. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation by Shreveport Fire Prevention Bureau.
